Passport 2 Employment
The “Passport 2 Employment” (P2E) program grew out of the Glenelg Transition Action Network (GTAN) supported by the GSGLLEN. This program provides pre-employment training to assist students that have been identified as benefitting from extra transition education, preparation and support.
The program commenced in Portland in 2014, and in Hamilton in 2015 and the main objectives of the program include:
Motivating and empowering students to continue to engage and achieve with education throughout their secondary schooling years
To provide participants with skills and knowledge that will assist them in seeking, finding, obtaining and retaining employment and/or further education training opportunities
Information sharing and networking with business and industry, community and also related support agencies
The program focuses on employability, communication, presentation and life skills, addressing systematic barriers to employment and/or further training and exploring pathways, oral health, nutrition, fitness and healthy eating.
The aim is to address the significant barriers faced by participating students and to support the development of positive aspirations and attitudes towards life after school and a belief in what they want to achieve, along with providing them with some of the skills to achieve whatever they want to.
